Microneedling treatment is a way of stimulating your body’s natural healing response to improve the appearance of your skin. At Curated Medical, we use the FDA-approved Exceed microneedling device. This device looks like a large pen and contains 6 tiny needles at the top. These needles gently glide over your skin, creating micro-channels that signal your body to send platelets and growth factors to the area. This healing process produces collagen and improves the appearance of facial acne scars, as well as wrinkles, skin laxity, texture, and pores.
The EXCEED device uses its minimally invasive Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI) method to promote healing and stimulate collagen and elastin production. As your skin builds its new network of collagen and elastin, it looks better and better, improving your results over time.
Microneedling can address a wide range of concerns:
- Smaller pores
- Improved fine lines
- More even skin tone
- Brighter skin
- Less noticeable scars
- Can improve stretch marks
Microneedling can be done just one time or as frequently as once a month- you will notice improvement with each treatment you get. It is important to also start on a medical-grade skin care regimen at home for the best results!
Your microneedling treatment will be about an hour, part of this will be used to prepare your skin and apply numbing cream. During the treatment, you can choose to have hyaluronic acid applied or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) which amplifies your results.
After the treatment, you can expect your skin to be red and feel dry or almost like you have a mild sunburn. You will have redness, dryness, and flaking skin for 5-7 days and will need to avoid makeup and exercise for 24-48 hours. During the first two weeks, it is important to avoid sun exposure and use only the recommended post-treatment skin care products.
