How Does Botox Work?

Understanding the process.

Every smile, frown, or laugh activates facial muscles, leading to the formation of dynamic wrinkles. Botox is a trusted muscle relaxer in the neuromodulator category and intervenes by softening these wrinkles. It provides a non-invasive solution, effectively addressing the visible signs of aging and leaving you with a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. Applied to key areas like the forehead, eyes, and mouth, Botox subtly transforms the signs of aging with a touch of elegance. The precision and effectiveness of Botox make it a preferred choice for those seeking a smoother and more youthful look.

What Are the Benefits of Botox?

The positive results.

Botox offers several benefits, making it a popular choice for many. One key advantage is its ability to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, providing a more youthful and refreshed appearance. The treatment is quick, with noticeable results within a couple of weeks. Because Botox is versatile, it addresses various areas like the forehead, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Beyond its cosmetic applications, Botox can be used for treating concerns such as excessive sweating or jaw pain. Our experienced team ensures you get the best, natural-looking results without any overdone appearance.

What to Expect

Understanding the procedure.

When getting Botox, expect a swift and efficient procedure. The appointment typically lasts around half an hour, including a consultation, health history discussion, and goal exploration. The injection process takes just a few minutes, and you’ll be amazed at how quick and easy it is. We’ll ask you to make facial expressions to target specific muscles, using a small needle for precise injections. You might notice minor fluid pockets and occasional small bruises, but these typically resolve quickly. Botox is FDA-approved and safe, with results visible within two weeks and lasting about 3-4 months. It’s an efficient way to maintain a refreshed appearance.

How Does a PDO Thread Lift Work?

Understanding the process.

As aging occurs, we lose volume in fat pads, and skin laxity occurs, resulting in drooping skin and jowls. A PDO thread lift is an aesthetic procedure that uses dissolvable suture material (polydioxanone or PDO) to reposition and lift this sagging skin. PDO threads provide subtle lifting effects to areas like the cheeks, jawline, and jowls while also stimulating collagen production. A PDO threadlift is a great treatment option for those wanting a lifting effect without the volume of filler. At Curated Medical, PDO threads are part of our comprehensive treatment options to bring you the best results possible.

What Are the Benefits of PDO Thread Lift?

The positive results.

A PDO thread lift has numerous benefits. This non-surgical treatment effectively lights and tightens the skin on the cheeks, jawline and jowls. Threads can also be used to stimulate collagen, improve fine lines, and tighten skin in areas such as under your chin. A PDO thread lift will provide you with a rejuvenated and lifted appearance with natural results.

What to Expect.

Understanding the procedure.

A PDO thread lift takes about an hour. After cleaning the skin, lidocaine is injected in the treatment areas to numb the skin. A needle is then used to make a small opening in the skin, and the threads are inserted into the desired areas. After the treatment, there will be some swelling, possible bruising and discomfort present for a few days to a week. PDO threads are long-lasting and typically only needed on an annual basis.

PDO threads lift and reposition sagging skin. Threads are a great option if you want the lift without any added volume.

During a PDO thread lift appointment, we will first clean your skin and create markings on the areas we want to treat. We will then inject lidocaine to numb the area (this is typically the most painful part of the procedure). A needle will be used to create an opening in the skin and insert the threads into the subcutaneous fat using a cannula. Typically we use threads to lift the cheeks, jowls, and neck. The whole procedure takes about an hour.

PDO threads are best for patients with mild to moderate laxity. Patients with more severe laxity will often need a surgical facelift.

Because we inject lidocaine in the area, PDO threads are not very painful during the procedure. It is common, however, to have pain or soreness once the lidocaine wears off. This may last for a few days to a week or longer. Some patients also experience “zingers” during the first month or so.

Before your procedure, you may be advised to avoid alcohol, turmeric, NSAIDs, and fish oil supplements. After your PDO thread lift, there are a few important things you should know. For the first 5 days, you will need to avoid exercise and exaggerated facial movements. You will also need to sleep on your back. Facial treatments need to be avoided for one month after your procedure. It is common to have soreness, swelling, and possible bruising for a couple of days as well as “zings” or pulling feelings for a couple of weeks.

PDO threads work by repositioning fat pads then stimulating collagen to strengthen the skin in that area. This new collagen helps to maintain the long-term results.

You will see a result immediately after the procedure, although the results will change over the first couple of weeks. At first you will have swelling which makes the results look more dramatic. After 1-3 weeks you will see the final result from your PDO threads. This result will last around a year.

$500+ for smooth (collagen-building) threads, $2500-$3500 for lifting threads.
