What to Expect

The Appointment and Recovery

Your provider will numb the area for comfort, then perform a series of passes with the DEKA CO2 laser. The treatment takes about 30–60 minutes depending on the size of the area. Expect bleeding, oozing, redness and swelling for the first 2-3 days. After that, redness and swelling will slowly improve. Peeling and dryness are normal as your skin resurfaces. By day 7, you’ll be ready to leave the house again. Most patients see smoother texture and a more even tone as early as 2 weeks, with ongoing improvement for 3–6 months.

No. While both use CO2 laser technology, DEKA is the deeper, more aggressive version. CoolPeel offers light resurfacing with minimal downtime, while DEKA targets deeper layers of the skin for more dramatic results and a longer recovery.

Plan for 5–7 days of visible healing (not really leaving the house), including bleeding, oozing, swelling, redness, peeling, and dryness. Some patients may have lingering pinkness for a few weeks or months depending on skin sensitivity and intensity of treatment.

You’ll start to see smoother, fresher-looking skin within 2–3 weeks, with continued improvement in firmness and texture over the next several months as collagen production ramps up.

We apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable during the treatment and offer Pronox laughing gas as an option. After treatment, your skin may feel hot or sunburned for a day, followed by a sandpaper-like texture during healing.

Most patients only need one treatment. Some may choose to do a second session after 6–12 months for additional improvement or to target specific concerns such as deeper scarring.

You’ll need to avoid makeup until the skin has fully healed, usually around day 7. Once your skin barrier is restored, makeup can be worn as normal.
